About The Yacker

Tuesday, August 25, 2015

Welcome to The Yacker. I am Flo, a Seinfeld-quoting, book-loving, self-proclaimed funny girl. I grew up in India and live somewhere in middle America now.

Things to expect from The Yacker:
  • Expect this blog to be an assorted mix of stuff ranging from randomness to awesomeness. And if that makes sense, I like you already!
  • A go-to place to keep yourself updated on things that are not important but will make for some good dinner table conversations on books, movies etc
  • Random thoughts like these, from my opinionated self.
Podcast:
  • If reading is not your thing, I co-host a podcast on Bollywood movies here. We are available on all your favorite podcast apps as moviewalapodcast. Hopefully, that long drive to work will seem shorter and more fun :)
Random Facts about me:
  • I believe I invented the word "Fishetarian"
  • My pop culture knowledge surprises even me sometimes
  • I have a serious sweet tooth
  • Once, I actually clicked on "Click to remove virus" virus button and installed a virus on my laptop. Naive much?
  • I have too many pet peeves. Some of them include people calling their laptops "lappy", PDA on Facebook etc.
  • I have a love-hate relationship with bangs
  • I watch a lot of movies and try to balance it by reading books. Sadly, movies are winning this race right now!
  • If I like a TV show, I binge-watch it like a pro.
  • I loved Bollywood movies even before it was a cool thing to do

Let's be BFFs!
You can also find me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram

Thank you so much for reading!

Don't be THAT NRI

Monday, August 17, 2015

When I moved to the US, the first thing I told my husby and friends was that I will never become THAT outdated NRI. You know who I am talking about. The one with no clue about things happening in India in terms of pop culture or fashion. Especially the fashion.

The art of saying goodbye

Monday, August 10, 2015
Last week saw Jon Stewart saying goodbye to the Daily Show. I am not a huge fan of his but I sat down to watch his very last show, I am always curious/interested in seeing how people/tv shows say goodbye. I mean goodbyes can be awkward, too long, too short, too sappy etc. You rarely see a perfect goodbye.
