Columbus Paczki Guide: Where To Find It?

Tuesday, February 28, 2017

It's funny how you come up with content for your blog. It's Fat Tuesday and as I was driving somewhere, this lady on the radio mentioned Paczki. And I had to find out what it was, how it looked like and most importantly, does Columbus have it.

Pronounced (Poonch-key, if it's many and Poon-chek, if it's single), it is a giant polish creme or jelly-filled donut. Areas like Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago that have a huge polish-american population, Paczki for Fat Tuesday is a tradition.

Here are the three places in Columbus if you want to indulge in Paczki before Lent begins:

BUCKEYE DONUTS
1998, N High St, Columbus, OH 43201 | (614) 291-3923

Popular and a busy hangout in the OSU campus, this place has Paczki every year on Fat Tuesday. You can find them filled with blueberry, lemon, apple, jelly. I am partial to anything that is lemon flavored, and this was no exception.

ANGRY BAKER:
247, King Ave, Columbus, OH 43201 | (614) 817-1778

Angry Baker can do no wrong in my books. They also sell Paczki on Mardi Gras, but by the time I got there, they were all out of it :( Apparently, everything sold out within an hour. She did mention that they might make some tomorrow.

RESCH'S BAKERY:
4061, E Livingston Ave, Columbus, OH 43227 | (614) 237-7421

Resch's bakery has been a columbus community staple since its opening in 1912. This year, they have raspberry-filled paczki. Yum!

Drop in after work for some Paczki.

PS: I will keep updating this post with other places in Columbus, as and when I discover them.
